Speakers

Laura Paul, MBA, P.Eng., PMP, is the Equity and Engagement Lead at Engineers Canada and a licensed professional civil engineer. She brings experience across engineering practice, operations, project management, and leadership in engineering organizations.

At Engineers Canada, Laura leads national initiatives focused on engineering culture, pathways to licensure, workforce development, and engagement with students, engineers-in-training, employers, regulators, and partners across the profession.

Through Pathway to Engineering, Laura works to help students and engineering graduates better understand the path from engineering education to professional licensure, including what it means to become a professional engineer and why that role matters to the public.

Eileen Sowunmi (she/her), BA, is Associate, Outreach and Belonging at Engineers Canada, where she supports national initiatives and programs towards a more welcoming and inclusive profession. She maintains relationships between Engineers Canada and its strategic partners, such as the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES), coordinating events that foster belonging in the profession. This includes reinforcing the value of licensure, under Pathway to Engineering and its Exchanges webinar series.

With a background in sociology, Eileen brings a qualitative lens to her work, drawing on insights from people's lived experiences and diverse perspectives to help foster a more inclusive engineering profession where everyone can thrive.

Opening remarks will be provided by Jeanette Southwood, P.Eng., FCAE, ICD.D., Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Strategic Partnerships, Engineers Canada, while Engineers Canada CEO, Philip Rizcallah, P.Eng., will provide closing remarks.
