Canada’s engineering regulators
In Canada, the provincial and territorial engineering regulators are responsible for ensuring engineering is practiced only by those licensed and qualified to do so.
These regulators share a commitment to public safety and well-being through regulation and hold a lot of responsibility. They set and maintain the academic, experience, and practice standards that individuals must obtain and maintain in order to become a licensed engineer and ensure engineers continue to meet the standards of practice and ethics throughout their time as a license holder.
The work done by Canada's regulators means the public can be confident that an engineer has the right qualifications and the ethics to protect the public interest and the environment. It also means that professional engineers can be proud of belonging to a profession with a reputation for excellence, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life, health, safety, and well-being of all Canadians.
The regulators are invested in supporting engineering graduates through the licensure process by providing resources and information. Reach out to them when you’re ready to become an engineer, or if you just have questions about becoming licensed in that jurisdiction. They’re there to help!
